Backpacking through Disney – in theory

As we have traveled more and more, I have started packing less and less in our bags. The more budget the airline we have traveled, the more frugal I have gotten with purchasing extra bags. Our last trip we brought down 1 suitcase. Just 1. For 5 people. For 8 days. Talk about minimal.

The more we have thought about it, the more we have decided that backpacking to Disney might be the way to go.

Pros:

1. Your luggage won’t get lost

2. You save on baggage fees

3. You only bring what you actually need versus the “oh well, I’ve got space”, then throw junk in bag

Cons:

1. You have to do some extra thinking before you start buying souvenirs

2. Laundry will have to happen

3. If you are traveling with littles, you are going to have to figure out the diaper situation

Frontier’s max specs for a free “personal item” to fit under the seat is 18″x14″x8″. Come to find out, that is pretty huge! I have done a ton of Amazon searching and I think I found the perfect backpack to fit the bill. Check out these 33L foldable packs in tons of fun colors:

I just bought 5 of these packs last night! One for each of the members of the Mouse family. Knowing me, I will make us each wear Magic Band that matches it.

They come in tomorrow and we are going to unbox these babies and see what we can stuff inside! What do you think? Can you backpack to Disney? How about backpacking to Disney while you cook your own food? Mickey Ears 4 Minnie Money followers, we are about to delve into uncharted territory!
