If you were to ask me what my all time favorite movie was, I would have to admit that it is Beauty and the Beast. The music is fabulous, the tale is timeless (see what I did there), and it makes me hungry just watching it!
So when we decided that we wanted to create theme nights for each day of vacation, with a craft, main course, and dessert, easy enough to whip up in a cafeteria, this was my first idea. Marie, the baguettes, hurry up! That is one of my absolute favorite lines from the whole movie. So for our meal, we had a dinner on a ‘baguette’… a ‘French’ dip, with French onion dip. Probably stretching it, but, all I had was a microwave and a toaster, so work with me on this! Belle’s French Dips
- Baguettes (or deli rolls)
- Roast beef
- Beef stock
- Sliced Provolone cheese
- Serve with: French onion dip, veggies, grapes, or anything else you would like
- Add roast beef to a microwave safe bowl. Pour enough beef stock over meat to just cover. Lightly cover with lid and microwave until warm, stirring occasionally. 3-5 minutes should do the job.
Top each roll with a big pile of roast beef slices of provolone. Pour juice into bowls and dip away! Seriously delicious and seriously easy enough to do on vacation in a crowded quick service seating area.
For our craft, we colored these inserts I drew, cut them out, and laminated them with contact paper. We then put them in design-a-mugs that I bought at Hobby Lobby for $1 each. Note that these are my own designs, I am letting you download them for free, please do not sell them!
A few weeks back, I shared my recipe for Grey stuff. I added that a great idea would be to infuse your milk with the chocolate sandwich cookies. Let me tell you, that worked so well! To make sure my kids didn’t finish the milk off before I made this dessert, I put my 2 cups of milk into a water bottle, added broken up cookie chunks, and let it sit for several days. When I made the pudding, it was super smoth and delicious!I served dollops of grey stuff atop Danish Butter Cookies. And even added a few hidden Mickey’s in my pearl sprinkles.
What do you think of our theme night?
